Local area
The cottage is ideally placed for beaches, surfing and sailing holidays as it is only minutes away from Rock and Polzeath and the other fabulous beaches of North Cornwall are all within short driving distance. Padstow can easily be reached via the Rock ferry.
The South West Coastal Path can be joined at various points near to the cottage for wonderful walks with breathtaking views.
St Ives is an hour away by car, where you can enjoy the Tate Museum and Barbara Hepworth Garden, amongst other local attractions (and 3 beaches).
The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are both less than an hour away and there are numerous other interesting places to visit all over North Cornwall
Padstow
Padstow is a fine example of a Cornish-fishing port. The town is largely unspoilt, with a beautiful harbour. There are good shopping facilities, a cinema, cafes restaurants and friendly public houses, most of them serving pub food and 'real ale'.
Around the harbour you will find craft and gift shops, artists' studios, book- shops, grocers, newsagents, leather workshops, a home-made fudge shop and much more.
The area is one of considerable natural beauty with beautiful bays, golden beaches and many interesting walks, particularly along the Coastal Footpath.
Port Isaac
Enjoy a visit to Port Isaac, an accessible haven - in both senses of the word and a rare find in the bustle and stress of our modern world! Hidden in a fold among the steep cliffs and a well-kept secret among its devotees, the village has been welcoming tourists for years but has stubbornly refused to change and still retains its old Cornish character.
The narrow lanes with whitewashed stone cottages wind down to the harbour - the centre of the village and a peaceful spot to while away the time and watch the world go by - but when the fishing boats come in and the catch is landed, this is a hive of activity.
Walking
This area is an ideal location for keen walkers. The Camel Trail provides easy walking for young and old, with beautiful countryside all around it and the Trail being flat. For the more adventurous, Bodmin Moor is only 15 miles away and has many places of interest along with some challenging walking areas. Wadebridge is also on the famous Saints Way, a 16 mile cross country path, forged in ancient times by Celtic Saints between Padstow and Fowey. There are also spectacular coastal walks within a few miles of St Minver.
