    Originally built for Sir Charles Palmer - the Port and mine owner - in 1857, this unusual "bungalow" was inspired by French design and beautifully restored in 2005. Palmer’s retains many of its original features including high ceilings with ornate covings and porch with coloured glass.

    Ground Floor Accommodation
    A large coloured glass porch leads into a large hallway. First sitting room includes a Free-view TV, a recordable DVD player and coal/wood burning stove. Second sitting room doubles as a games room with snooker table, table and chairs, sofa, TV with PS2, CD player and radio.

    The kitchen/dining room is very well equipped with a double electric oven with grill, 8 burner gas hob, full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher, toaster, electric kettle, cafetieres  and microwave. Double patio doors lead out onto a raised decking area with patio table and chairs in a walled secure garden with sea views. The utility area contains a combined washing machine/tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.

    The ground floor master bedroom has a king size bed and an en-suite shower room. Bedroom 2 contains a wrought iron double bed. Family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

    Upstairs Accommodation
    2 further bedrooms- a double bedroom and a bunk bedroom (top bunk unsuitable for under 6's) with additional single bed.

    Upstairs Cloakroom (WC and hand basin).

    A double sofa bed and single guest bed sleep a further 3 guests at an additional charge.

    Other facilities include full central heating and hot water at no extra charge, starter fuel for the coal/wood burning stove, bed linen and ample parking at the front of the property. Stair gate, fireguard, travel cot and high chair can be provided if required.

    Palmer’s is set in 1/2 an acre with a secure garden to the side of the property - BBQ, garden chairs and sun loungers provided.

    The Old Stable has double and twin bedrooms with cast iron beds and a bathroom with a shower over bath. Downstairs, the kitchen/dining room has a full sized fridge/freezer and dishwasher and the sitting room has a gas coal burner effect fire, Freeview flat screen TV, DVD player and CD/Radio. There is an additional WC. A full size single stowaway bed can be provided for an additional child.

    The cottage has a shaver point, iron and table top ironing board, gas cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster and cafetiere, gas central heating and hot water (no extra charge). Bed linen is included. Private car parking is available in the Courtyard.

    The Coach House serves as a laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer (small charge) and utility sink. There is also a recycling area. The communal garden area has garden furniture and BBQs provided.

    Couples Discount - discount applies in low and mid season - subject to availability and conditions.

    External steps lead to this open-plan apartment designed for couples to enjoy a romantic break, with a gothic four poster bed, coal/wood burning stove and, in the bathroom, an extra long bath with shower over.

    The Coachman's Rest has Freeview flat screen TV and DVD player, iPod docking station and CD/Radio, shaver point, iron and table top ironing board, gas cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster and cafetiere. The standard fridge has a freezer compartment but there is no dishwasher. Gas central heating and hot water (no extra charge), bed linen and fuel for the stove are included.

    Private car parking is available in the Courtyard. The Coach House serves as a shared laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer (small charge) and utility sink. There is also a recycling area. The communal garden area has garden furniture and BBQs provided.


    The properties are set in an acre and a half near the coast in Port Mulgrave between Runswick Bay and Staithes - both villages being approximately 1 mile away. Whitby is 9 miles. The Cleveland Way Coastal Footpath is a few minutes away and there is a network of inland footpaths located on the doorstep.

    Free wireless internet (Wi-Fi) is available in all the cottages. All holiday cottages are well equipped, nicely furnished and open all year round. Children and pets are welcome. There is a strict no-smoking policy in all the buildings.

    Short breaks of 3 or 4 nights are bookable in low season, subject to availability. Short breaks in mid season are available 3-4 weeks prior to booking subject to availability. In high season bookings are from Saturday to Saturday for the cottages and Friday to Friday for Palmer's.

    The cottages are set in one and a half acres, with parking spaces, a garden with furniture and a barbecue. Palmer’s has a half acre secure walled garden with sea views, raised decking area with patio table and chairs.

    The cottages are situated in Port Mulgrave between Runswick Bay and Staithes - both villages being approximately 1 mile away. Sandsend 5 miles and Saltburn by the Sea 10 miles. The Cleveland Way Coastal Footpath is a few minutes away and there is a network of inland footpaths located on the doorstep. The picturesque North Yorkshire Coast offers a selection of small towns and villages nearby with the port of Whitby 9 miles distant.     A Cottage for couples, this ground floor, single-storey cottage has an open plan living area with integrated dining space and kitchen. Cosy multi-fuel stove, Free View flat screen TV and DVD player and a CD/Radio with docking system for ipod/iphone.

    The kitchen contains an electric oven and separate hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and cafetiere, a standard fridge with freezer compartment and a slim line dishwasher. A door from the living area leads out to the enclosed back garden.

    Double bedroom and a bathroom with bath, shower over it, full sized basin and WC.

    The laundry room is housed in the former Coach House where a washing machine, tumble dryer (small charge) and utility sink are available to all guests.

    Additional facilities in The Apple House are a shaver point, iron and table top ironing board. The cottage has gas central heating and hot water at no extra charge. Bed linen and fuel for the stove included.
