    Local area
Ballynultagh Forge is located on the Wicklow Way adjacent to the popular Dying Cow pub - a favourite with tourists and walkers alike, where traditional music sessions are held throughout the year.  It is in close proximity to Coolattin oak forest with nature walks, hunting and shooting. Several golf courses in the area include, notably, Coolattin and Mount Wolseley.

The cottage is within 20 miles of the coast and several beaches including Brittas Bay and Courttown Harbour. It is an ideal location for exploring Counties Wicklow, Wexford and Carlow.  Carlow town and Arklow are 20 miles and Gorey is 15 miles. The area has a host of good restaurants and coffee shops.

The County is on the east coast of the Ireland, immediately south of Dublin bordered by the Irish Sea and the counties of Carlow, Kildare, Wexford and two parts of what was County Dublin, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and South Dublin. It is part of the "Greater Dublin Area" and is known as "The Garden of Ireland" because of its scenery.

The largest urban centre is Bray on the northern border and effectively a Dublin suburb. Other main towns include Greystones and Arklow. All of these towns are situated on the east coast.

The Wicklow Mountains National Park was established in 1991 and is owned by the people of Ireland. It consists of an extensive upland area of Ireland and one of the country's most beautiful regions. The 400 million year old mountains and the more recent glaciated features blend well with the animal and plant life there today. A large population of deer occupies the open mountain area of the park.

The national park has no restrictions to visitors and is open to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Also to be found in The Wicklow Mountains National Park is the famous early christian monastic site and one of Ireland's most popular visitor attractions, Glendalough.
