Jurassic Coast
The Jurassic Coast is 95 miles of the Dorset Coast, in Southwest England, about a third of it owned by the National Trust. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site these wild beaches, sheer white cliffs and stunning rock formations have important and easily seen evidence of 185 million years of the history of life on earth frozen in its rocks.
The folds and layers of the rock formations and cliffs, and the fossils found within them show evidence of three important periods in the development of life on earth through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous Eras.
