Dunquin Cottage is a traditional stone cottage situated at the tip of the Dingle Peninsula, an area National Geographic described as "one of the most beautiful on earth".  On Ireland's west coast in a Gaeltacht, or Irish speaking area, the cottage is backed by Mt. Eagle, surrounded by green fields and stone walls and looks out over the Atlantic Ocean and the Blasket Islands.  A serene, rustic retreat, Dunquin Cottage has been sensitively renovated  to comfortably provide modern amenities without sacrificing its sense of time and place.

Upon entering the cottage, there is a glass-roofed porch which is a perfect spot to have breakfast in the morning or a drink at sunset.

The living room is furnished with comfortable upholstered furniture and large closets for storage. An antique pine desk holds a portable music system for radio, tape cassettes or CD's.  The dining room area contains an old scrubbed pine table and chairs which sit before an open stone fireplace. The bookshelf is filled with Irish fiction and non-fiction, local maps, walking guides and other books about the flora and fauna of the area.

Beyond the dining room is a  modern, tile-floored bathroom with tub, electric shower, W.C. and bidet. Colourful Kilim rugs are scattered throughout the rooms.

The kitchen is very well-stocked with china, glassware, flatwear, pots and pans. There is a small fridge/freezer, electric stove, washing machine and tumble dryer as well as toaster and a French coffee press.

There are two pine-beamed loft bedrooms with skylights.  One bedroom has a vintage double brass bed and the other, a double pine bed. A fold-out bed is also available for use downstairs.

Three mountain bikes are available for the use of our guests.

Our housekeeper lives nearby and will show guests around the cottage upon arrival.  She is also on hand should there be any unexpected emergencies.

Rental periods extend from Saturday to Saturday and all utilities, linen, cleaning fees and the use of the bicycles are included. It is our aim that our guests enjoy the cottage as much as we do and return home having had a relaxed and happy holiday.

The village of Dunquin has a pub, cafe, restaurant, Heritage centre and ferry to the Blasket Islands all within walking distance. The villages of Ventry and Ballyferriter are five miles away and the town of Dingle is ten miles distant. Shops, restaurants, and pubs with traditional music are abundant and the area hosts special events throughout the year such as the Dingle Regatta in August, and a May festival which draws artists, writers, musicians and speakers from around the world .

The area is graced by towering sea cliffs, long, unspoiled sandy beaches, craggy mountains and green valleys.  Rich in the remains of pre-Celtic artefacts, it is a landscape abundant in archaeological antiquities.  Excellent hiking, hill-walking, cycling, golf, sailing, angling, wind-surfing and horse riding facilities are all readily available on the peninsula.
