South Beer Farmhouse is a traditional Victorian house in a lovely rural setting surrounded by beautiful Devon countryside. With high ceilings, bright, airy rooms and many large windows offering wonderful views over open countryside and farmland, this family holiday house is larger than average. Modernised and adapted it makes a great country holiday home for large families. Pet friendly it is available all year.

Interior

This old Victorian house has all the benefits of its era - high ceilings, light airy spaces, quality fixtures and fittings, including all the original doors and slate fireplaces – combined with the generous modern facilities guests expect from a Devon holiday rental at all times of year.

The bedrooms comprise two double bedrooms, with ample space for cots or a child foldaway bed as required, and two twin bedrooms - one with an extra single sofa bed for flexibility in family parties. All beds have orthopaedic mattresses and cotton bed linen (including some organic linen). Upstairs is a huge bathroom with over-bath shower, toilet and basin off a galleried landing with wooden banister and railings.

Downstairs the sitting room has original polished wooden floorboards, rugs, a log burner, squishy sofas, armchairs, cushions, reclaimed pine furniture, a huge new 42" flat screen Panasonic TV with DVD and free-view and a variety of lighting options. The second sitting room with dual aspect windows includes a quality double sprung mattress sofa bed, decorative fireplace and a smaller TV with video/DVD.

The separate dining room seats up to 10 guests at a reclaimed pine farmhouse refectory table on an oak laminate floor, with original fireplace and clome oven (no longer in use). A spacious shower room with toilet, sink and full laundry facilities occupies the former dairy. A complete range of stainless steel saucepans from stockpot to milk pan, professional standard crockery and an excellent range of utensils, cutlery and glassware are all provided in the fully fitted kitchen. Also a 12 place setting dishwasher, built-in fridge, electric double oven, built in electric hob and extractor fan. An additional utility area contains a full size upright Miele fridge/freezer.

Facilities at this Devon holiday house include full central heating with an efficient boiler, solar panels to provide hot water and the first basket of logs provided free of charge.

Outside

Located at the heart of Beer Mill Nature Trails (130 acres of managed and protected wildlife habitat) with medieval fields and hedgerows, woods and pasture, the house stands in its own large enclosed garden. It is away from any roads up a single track lane.

Local area

The house is situated about 3 miles from the nearest small market town of Holsworthy. The town has a good range of pubs, shops, supermarkets, banks and local colourful livestock and produce market.  The accommodation is a 20 minute drive from the fabulous North Cornwall beaches at Widemouth, Bude and Sandymouth.
