    West Dorset

These well appointed holiday rental properties are full of character and three of the cottages are single storey, one sleeping 3 and 2 sleeping 2. This area of West Dorset is close to the Somerset border with easy access to the Jurassic Coast and the charming local town of Beaminster.

    Interior
The barn is a character conversion with exposed beams. The 3 bedrooms are all en-suite. The master has a king-size hand carved four poster bed, and a further 2 twin bedrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs). The farmhouse kitchen, with large breakfast bar, and the sitting room are open plan, bright and airy although they retain a cosy feel. A courtyard garden overlooking the fields - where deer can often be seen grazing - with picnic table for al-fresco dining - completes the delightful barn accommodation.

The 4 cottages for couples are full of character with exposed beams and high vaulted ceilings, giving a feeling of airiness, while retaining their cosiness. All, except The Granary, are on one level only, and there is a large enclosed communal garden for guests’ use. The cottages offer an assortment of beds ranging from super-king size to twin beds to suit all. More details appear on the owners’ web page.

The barn and cottages are all centrally heated for year round living and all linen is provided. The kitchens are well stocked with facilities and equipment including fridge freezers, full size ovens and hobs, microwaves, toasters, plenty of cupboards and work surfaces. TVs and CD radios are provided and the barn has a DVD player. A chair bed, full size cot and high chair, stair gate and socket covers are available on request.

A games room provides table tennis, snooker, darts and various other games, books, maps etc. Dogs are welcome.

    Local area
The farm is very peaceful, and wildlife plentiful, yet the village lies only a 20 minute walk away down the country lane. It has a shop/post office and a pub. The thriving local market town of Beaminster is only 4 miles away. This attractive market town offers a good range of shops and more than 200 listed buildings. Many historic villages and several market towns, stately homes and gardens are to be discovered nearby. The dramatic World Heritage Jurassic coast is an easy drive.

Golf, fishing, clay-pigeon shooting and llama-trekking are all available in the area too. Two long distance footpaths cross the area, and plenty of bridle paths provide scenic rides.

The owners take great pride in their barn and cottages and won, in their first year of business, an Award for Excellence for Retreat of the Year in recognition of the quality of the service provided.
