Situated in Ambergate Derbyshire, Woodside House is close to the World Heritage Derwent Valley. It has been transformed from its original role, in the 19th century, as the chief engineer’s residence, during the construction of the Midland Railway through Derbyshire's scenic Derwent Valley, and extensively redesigned to "luxury" standards, which go far beyond the level of normal holiday homes, with extensive facilities and excellent views.
Interior
This large holiday house sleeps 14-16 guests in six en-suite bedrooms. The ground floor bedroom contains an additional single bed and cot space, making an ideal family room. Five bedrooms include wall mounted TVs and bedroom 6 is a vaulted attic bedroom with three beds, making a lovely children’s room with play dens beneath the eves and en-suite facilities. Extra sleeping space is provided in the conservatory area with a full sized framed double sofa bed.
The living areas comprise a conservatory, tastefully furnished in pine and Spanish style tiles, with a picture window offering open views and a wood stove for year round use. This room leads out to a terrace and covered barbecue area and in to the very large, open plan L shaped lounge and dining area. Here a large dining table seats 16 guests. A separate sitting area has a stereo music centre, satellite TV, video and a DVD. A wood stove gives a cosy winter welcome, with logs provided, and there is a games corner with a football table.
The well equipped kitchen area includes a large double oven, US style fridge freezer with ice maker, a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave and ample crockery and cutlery.
Services include oil fired central heating with all fuel and power included in the tariff. Bed linen and duvets are also inclusive. Up to 2 well behaved dogs welcome. Logs supplied.
Outside
The gardens around the house include a terrace and covered barbecue area with a tiled barbecue table, a large outdoor chessboard, sitting area and extensive panoramic views.
