The comfortable country kitchen is spacious and well-equipped with all mod-cons essential for a relaxing holiday for couples or up to 4 guests. The welcoming oil-fired Rayburn is especially appreciated in cooler weather. There is also a top-quality gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher and a good-sized farmhouse table.

For those who enjoy a real fire, the woodburning stove in the sitting-room provides a cosy atmosphere in which to relax and read, play some of the games provided or enjoy the digital satellite TV/DVD. French windows open out into the pretty terraced garden

Upstairs, the two surprisingly spacious bedrooms sleep two couples in superb comfort. Steam away the stress in the very well-appointed bathroom or take advantage of the en-suite power shower in the double bedroom. Beautiful white cotton bed-linen, towels and bath robes are all provided. Babies are welcome, as a travel cot and high-chair are available. Downstairs, there is a useful cloakroom area providing washer/dryer, clothes airer and loo.

There is no mobile reception here, which means you can really switch off and enjoy the peace of the countryside.  The private water supply is provided by the borehole.
A maximum of 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome (downstairs only, please).

Outside
Graig Ddu is approached via a good gravel track through the forest. This pretty woodland retreat has a lovely established terraced garden which is full of interesting flora and fauna, and an ideal place to enjoy the barbeque.

Area
A mile from the hamlet of Llanthony near Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye has easy access over Gospel Pass to the renowned Hay Literary Festival, held annually at the end of May.
Llanthony is an excellent place from which to explore the Welsh borders, The Black Mountains and The Marches. Offa’s Dyke footpath runs along the ridge on the opposite side of the valley and the famous Cistercian Llanthony Abbey is nearby. Interesting walks abound in and around the area, and locally are 2 pony-trekking centres. With plenty of interesting things to see and do a short break in Wales offers outdoor activity, history and culture with good food to enjoy at many excellent gastro-pubs and restaurants.

Slightly further afield but well within striking distance for a good day out are Cardiff, with its rapidly expanding and exciting Bay area, Hereford, for its cathedral and the Mappa Mundi, and Ludlow, with its good food shops and handsome town houses. The Gower Peninsula with its wonderful beaches is not too far for a day trip, as well as the many other beauty spots in South Wales.
