The Isle of Wight Music Festival, Cowes Week, the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, Walk the Wight, the 'Big Wight' Cycling Festival, carnivals and concerts - the list goes on. With over 1000 local, national and international events the Isle of Wight is the place to be seen, to compete and to party.
Nowhere in Britain hosts events quite like the Isle of Wight. With a mild climate, a supportive and vibrant local community, a wide range of accommodation, restaurants and pubs, stunning scenery and endless tourist attractions - it's the perfect events venue.
See a world famous rock star, race a yacht or walk the Wight, then take time out to explore, drink, eat and relax.
And it's easy to see why outdoor activities like walking, cycling and sailing are so popular on this small Island; it has over 500 miles of footpaths, around 30 miles of Heritage Coastline while more than half the Island is recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Throughout the year, see some of the top bands and artists perform at a range of distinct Island music events: The Isle of Wight Jazz Festival in April, The Isle of Wight Festival in June, the Osborne House Classical Concert in July, The Bestival, the hippy happening of the year, in September. Visitors can find their sea legs with free 'Try Sailing' taster sessions available during Cowes Week in August.
And it's not only the international events people flock to. Throughout the year, the Island is alive with local carnival celebrations, confirming its reputation as England's carnival island.

Sailing
The Isle of Wight is the ideal destination for a sailing holiday in the UK. It is known as the home of yachting, with a great range of sailing events, which take place all year round. The offshore waters of the Channel and the Solent provide excellent conditions for sailing.
Sailing is a favourite pastime for visitors and Island residents alike and the sea is busy with boats all year round. In August the seafronts and esplanades throng with spectators who come for Skandia Cowes Week the world's most famous international yachting regatta. From yacht crews to film crews, the whole Island buzzes with activity, culminating in a grand fireworks display on the last Friday of the Week. For those who want to join in the fun there are a number of companies offering equipment-hire, whilst for those who prefer the view from the shore there are plenty of perfectly placed bars and restaurants.
Due to such perfect surroundings for sailing, it's not surprising that the Island has its own home grown sailing talent, and those that have chosen to make this their home due to the facilities and locations.

Fishing
The Isle of Wight is an ideal destination for a fishing holiday, the visiting angler is very well catered for. Most styles of Sea and Freshwater angling can be done on or around the Island. For Freshwater anglers, ponds, reservoirs and streams hold most species including Trout, Carp, Perch, Rudd and Roach.
The Sea Angler has 64 miles of coastline available for beach and rock fishing. Bass, Conger, Plaice and Rays, to name but a few, can all be taken in season. For the visiting boat angler, the English Channel and the more sheltered Solent provides huge scope, whether from your own boat or a charter trip. Lake or pier/shore fishing tuition also available.
