These Historic Thames Sailing Barges have been beautifully converted to provide attractive self catering holiday accommodation at a variety of riverside locations in East Anglia. They can be hired for up to 12 guests, for crewed weekends away, or longer trips, exploring the rivers, marshes and villages of Suffolk and Essex or as static floating "cottages” on the Quayside in Maldon.

Between Easter and the end of September, "Reminder" takes guests away for weekend sailings on the East Coast Rivers, but over the winter months and during school summer holidays (if not booked) is available as an interesting and unusual alternative to a country cottage. Join Friday evening and depart tea-time Sunday (extra days can be added).
"Reminder" can sleep up to 14 guests in a variety of cabins. She has central heating, as well as an attractive solid-fuel stove in the main saloon and galley.
Her open plan saloon and galley make cooking and eating a very sociable affair. She is well equipped with large range cooker, 2 fridges and a large dining table. A corridor leads to the washrooms, one with WC and basin and one with shower, WC and basin. The six cabins comprise 2 doubles, 2 twins and two triples with 3 single beds. On deck there is plenty of room for lounging about, taking photos or crabbing.

Moored amongst the other charter barges on Maldon's Hythe Quay, home to seven of these historic vessels, you are at the edge of this attractive market town. Opposite the Quay, the salt marshes are home to a huge number of winter birds as well as our resident oyster catchers, egrets, waders and swans.
A short walk through the Promenade Park takes you to the sea wall and lovely winter walks along the estuary. Up river takes you to Beeleigh Falls with Kingfishers and shell duck or you can follow the Blackwater and Chelmer Canal to Heybridge Basin or Hoe Mill Lock.
A short drive in the car opens up many other estuary villages and if you look on a map you will see the rivers Colne, Stour and Orwell are also in close proximity.
On the Quay is the bargeman's pub "The Queens Head", and Maldon is home to a wide variety of restaurants and pubs - ask for our "Maldon Munch Guide".
