Local area
This charming cottage is situated in a quiet private road, away from traffic and is only a pleasant ten minute stroll, through woodland, from the beach. The local pub and beach cafe are also located on this route. The  beach is backed by crumbling sandstone cliffs, is perfect for walks, birdwatching and picnics. There are numerous walks though woodland, heathland and beach areas.

Dunwich Heath is a National Trust owned area of coastal lowland heath, sandy cliffs and beach, rich in wildlife. The area offers many excellent walks. Minsmere Bird Reserve, managed by the RSPB, is a great place for a day out and is open to non-members. Great waterside walks, hides from which to view the waterfowl, a cafe, extensive disabled access and seasonal variations in the bird population make it well worth a visit all year round.

Nearby lies another National Trust managed area - Orford Ness National Nature Reserve, an internationally important nature reserve, with a fascinating 20th-century military history. Also for those keen on discovering England's history are Orford Castle, Framlingham Castle and Sutton Hoo - the Anglo-Saxon royal burial site and exhibition.

The charming, sedate, seaside town of Aldeburgh lies about 10 miles south. It has historic, musical and literary associations and the annual Aldeburgh Festival, which attracts world class artists and musicians, is held in and around the town with Open Air events and concerts at nearby Snape Maltings each June/July.

The quintessentially English resort town of Southwold lies 8 miles north and the journey beside the marshes , through the pink washed villages and past the magnificent Blythburgh Church is an excellent introduction to the beauties of East Anglia. Southwold is a lively town with weekly markets, an eclectic mix of shops, a wealth of cafes, restaurants and bars, a pier, lighthouse, brewery and miles of sandy beach.
