The Bothy holiday let comprises an entrance leading into a bright cosy living room flooded with natural light offering space to relax, read and watch TV. Here too is the dining area and a compact fitted kitchenette. There are 3 pretty bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single, a bathroom with shower and toilet.

The holiday cottage is heated by solid fuel central heating and an open fire (all fuel and power, bed linen and towels included in rent). Holiday accommodation includes a colour TV and washing machine. Pets are welcome

Garden furniture allows you to enjoy the lawned gardens and there is parking space for 2 cars. A gate in the wall opens on to the famous Millennium Gardens (which are open to the public). These are set in a large park laid out around a lake and on the banks of two rivers, offering miles and hours of beauty and tranquillity. This haven for nature lovers, gardeners, artists is all yours to enjoy privately each evening.

The Demesne is equally celebrated for its giant telescope, the largest in the world for 75 years and now fully restored. Boating trips on the River Shannon, cycling, fishing and golf are all nearby.

Shops, pub and restaurant are all within 300 meters.

Although this charming holiday rental provides everything you could want from a country holiday cottage, mid Ireland and the Birr region offer many other attractions. County Offaly boasts castles, abbeys and lovely rural scenery at the heart if the Irish Midlands.

This County Offaly holiday cottage is an ideal base for touring nearby counties, and close by is an excellent mix of countryside, leisure activities, sightseeing, history, and one of Ireland’s most important heritage sites – Clonmacnoise.

The Georgian town of Birr is the county’s prettiest and retains much character in its buildings and layout.

The heathery Slieve Bloom Mountains, in the south-east of County Offaly, are ideal for walking and hiking. Open moorland and hidden valleys are just waiting to be explored. The River Shannon separates Offaly from Galway and Roscommon in the west of the county and provides good fishing and river cruises.
