Local area
Although in a rural setting - Owl Barn is set deep in the rolling hills of Herefordshire, in a small hamlet at the end of a no through road, close to the owners’ property - the barn is a short distance from Leominster, Ludlow and Hereford and within easy distance of Hay-on-Wye, Wales and the Black Mountains.

The closest market town is Leominster, 5 miles away with its ancient Priory Church and numerous antique shops, perfect for an afternoon spent browsing.

Ludlow is 13 miles away.  "The most perfect town in England" as John Betjeman described it. Ludlow is a wonderful town with its stunning castle, winding streets full of independent shops and of course its famous festivals; including Ludlow Festival held in June, The Food and Drink Festival, and The Medieval Fair. It has fascinating architecture, a traditional market on most days, and of course is well known for its top class restaurants.

The charming market town of Hay-on-Wye is 20 miles away, on to the Welsh border. It offers much more besides its world famous annual Literary Festival and many book shops. There is kayaking, and canoeing on the River Wye, wonderful riverside walks and abundant footpaths, a good range of individual shops and plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants,

The splendid Cathedral City of Hereford is only 13 miles away, the city is famed for its Cathedral, Mappa Mundi and Chained Library. It has a cinema, Theatre, museums, numerous shops, cafés and restaurants, with the beautiful River Wye running right through it.

A short drive away through open English countryside are the famous Black and White villages including Weobley.

The area is steeped in history in a rolling landscape. Nearby are Ledbury, the Malvern Hills, local Cider producers, golf courses, several National Trust Properties, Horse racing courses and Offas Dyke to name but a few of the things to see and do during your stay.
