Coham Manor is beautifully furnished in English Country House style with a wealth of period furnishings and memorabilia and a special atmosphere. The entrance hall sets the tone with wood panelling, hung with ancestral paintings, a huge formal, family crested stone fireplace, Victorian tiled floor and grandfather clock.
The comfortable expansive drawing room has three huge floor-to-ceiling triple-paned windows filling it with light, a fine bureau, books galore, comfy sofas and occasional tables. To the other side of the hall is the large snooker room containing a three-quarter sized snooker table, an ancient grand piano, marble fireplace, glass cabinets with fine china/ornaments, a beautiful marble statue and a table for jigsaw puzzles. The beamed dining room has a big bay window, a fine ornamental fireplace, book-lined walls, a sideboard and a table seating 20. Off the slate floored corridor, which is the oldest part of the house, is a children's den with toys, books, TV, video, DVD, games, a toy fort, sofa and another large fireplace. The fitted kitchen, attractively decorated with a blue and white china hung sideboard, houses a four door Aga and a large electric range with gas hob, a microwave, CD player and a large pine refectory table. Off the kitchen is a larder for the dishwasher and the scullery containing a chest freezer, second dishwasher, two fridges, washing machine and tumble drier. A back door leads to the garden via a large porch, ideal for boots and shoes. There is also a lobby with three loos and washbasins, a downstairs back loo and the back servants' stairs leading to the first floor bedrooms.
From the inner hall a formal crinoline staircase guarded by marble lions, leads gently up to eight bedrooms: The Blue Room, above the snooker room, is a sunny double aspect twin room with en suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. Scotland is a large bedroom with a bay window and window seat, containing 3 single beds. The Sleeping Boy’s Room is a double bedroom with en suite bathroom and Their Room is a large double bedroom with a washbasin. The Garden Room is a twin room. The Maid’s Quarters is a double bedroom attached to a room with a double sofa bed and en suite shower-room (suite). The Dormitory contains 4 single beds and a washbasin. The Bachelor’s Room has an ornamental fireplace, double bed and a washbasin. In addition there are 2 further bathrooms and a shower-room. All fuel, power and linen are included in the rent. A phone is provided for incoming and local outgoing calls. A cautionary deposit of £500 is required. Day guests by arrangement with owner. |
