Interior
Delightful farm accommodation in Cumbria rarely comes with as much charm and character as Bells Farm. This house in the northern lakes area of the Lake District sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms including a ground floor bedroom with ensuite shower room.
The farmhouse character has been preserved in the ground floor beamed farmhouse style kitchen with spacious dining area. This is very well equipped with a pine dresser, electric hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and microwave - great for family self catering Cumbrian holidays all year round.
The cosy beamed sitting room complete with wood burning stove and piano has a window seat, ample sofas, a TV and video.
Also on the ground floor is a beamed bunk bedroom with en-suite shower room and WC, suitable for children or perhaps a grandparent. This living space is extended by a sunroom containing garden furniture with access to the rear patio.
On the first floor are three further bedrooms - two doubles and one twin, all with radio alarms and views over High Street and the Pennines. The upstairs bathroom has a shower over the bath, hand basin and WC.
The house provides everything you need for a comfortable easy Lake District family holiday, including full central heating, two TVs, video and DVD players, books, board games and a cot.
Local area
Berrier is on the edge of the Lake District National Park and Bells Farm is well positioned holiday accommodation for the Northern Lakes. It has easy access from the M6 with Lake Ullswater just a few miles south. This attractive hilly farming area offers clean air and open views and a great base for a Cumbrian Holiday for families.
The Lake District has a spectacular landscape with 16 major lakes and hundreds of tarns which were carved out of the landscape during the last ice age, set amidst the highest mountains in England. The park is cared for by the Lake District National Park Authority in partnership with other organisations. The Windermere Lake Steamers are now the UK's second most popular charging tourist attraction.
The Lake District has become associated with many literary figures in particularly, William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter but more recently Alfred Wainwright, whose ' Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells ' has drawn many people to the area . His books provided detailed information on 214 peaks across the region, with carefully hand-drawn maps and panoramas, and also stories and asides which add to the colour of the area.
From Bells Farm self catering holiday accommodation it is a shor drive to Penrith or Keswick for shopping with many good pubs serving food in nearby villages. The owners are on site to provide details of the wide range of cultural and sporting activities in the area. These include Wordsworth’s house, a safari park, brewery and fell walking.
Keswick is situated between Skiddaw and Derwentwater and has become the major centre for tourism in the north lakes. This pretty market town offer a wide range of attractions for visitors, from shops and restaurants to museums and boating trips around lake Derwentwater. In 1276 Edward I granted the town its market charter, and the Saturday market continues to this day.
